Eighties Fun

So this week was Brookie's spring concert at school.  The theme was the eighties and man did we have fun getting ready!  The kids that were brave enough were invited to dress for the theme.  (And I find it quite comical that the music teacher felt obligated to send home pictures of good examples of 80's attire!)  Needless to say, my girl was brave enough!  ;)  I told her that the music she was singing was what was on the radio when I was her age and she got a kick out of that.  We put together an awesome outfit, found a friend who still had a crimper and we brought Brooke back to the 80's!  The concert was amazing...had everything from Michael Jackson to Journey and Bon Jovi and the kids did just great!  It was probably the most enjoyable school concert I've seen yet!  And of course, the getting ready was a blast from my past!  Here's a few pics of my rockin' girl!

Yes my girl can strike a pose!  ;)

And her mom can still rock the crimper!

One more note about the fabulous 80's concert!  I recently served on a committee with some awesome women and we put on a Daddy-Daughter Dance with the proceeds benefiting the new daycare center being built here in town.  It was SO much fun to watch those little girls...it was like a baby prom!  :)  Anyway, I got to organize the music and run the equipment.  I knew a few of the 80's songs that they were singing in the concert (mostly because I have heard Brooke singing her little heart out! LOL!)  So, I decided to slip a few of their concert songs into the playlist.  The girls absolutely loved that and they all shrieked and then sang at the top of their lungs while dancing like crazy.  At one point, a little girl came up to me and asked if I knew that they were singing that particular song in their concert and then she proceeded to ask me how I knew the "old" songs!  I didn't have the heart to tell her that I was her age when those songs were popular!  ;)  It made me laugh...and then cry a little!  LOL!
